On my wall hangs a scroll. It was a gift from one of my sons. It’s message is both wise and beautiful.
As my eye moves out across the room my mind whispers, “Yes darling, you are living passionately.”
A further glance spots the pink burst of joy that rest above the kitchen sink. Because doesn’t every kitchen require joy? The Joy of Cooking comes to mind. That brilliant book written by Irma S. Rombauer and Marion Rombauer Becker. That book that taught so many of us how to cook! They had it right. Yes I agree. Bring in the joy.
At the thought of cooking I make a b-line for the backdoor. I reach for my trusty jean jacket. The one with the ORANGE button. (The button I wrote about in a previous blog) A promise is a promise, button. I lost a button and promised myself I would only replace it with a button that I was certain I was going to find whilst travelling on that particular trip. And yep, that bright orange beacon of joy was the button the universe laid in my path. I reach for the jacket and my eye goes to the vineyard painting that is hanging beside it. Great joy and passion come from this image. The joy of consuming the wines that were created from vineyards such as this one… the passion that the wine makers have, and the passion that follows the consuming of said wines. That plus the memory of a day spent strolling through a brilliant countryside.
Then of course there’s Lily. She exudes passion.
A short walk up the stairway is a place I treasure. The family photos are lined up here, and above them a shoreline piece that provides a sense of peace and offers the joy of a summers day spent by the sea. Something I did with my children many years ago. But for you perhaps a stroll with a loved one was taken there, or a silent walk alone with the sounds of the sea replenishing ones spirit with each splash.
From there I find myself in the studio surrounded by more seaside images that flow over me like a warm memory of days spent gazing at the mesmerizing colors of the ever changing oceans.
So I guess what I’m blathering on about is, Wherever you find yourself, in your home, or out in this big, beautiful world of ours, it is my sincerest hope that you too will live passionately.
