Are you feeling cutoff from the world?

I found the cure! Not that cure, but the cure to perhaps bringing a sense of light into your heart, and into your home, whilst not being able to travel or stray far beyond your own environment.

As I wandered about my home today I was struck with a powerful realization. My travels, my family, are here with me, on my walls!

I round the corner and I see Onyx, he is perched above the antique school desk where my two year old grandson eats his meals when he’s here visiting. Never a snack goes by when Onyx is not greeted by our tiny guest. The words “Hi Onyx.” warm my heart every time I hear them. Somehow it seems the painting is watching over my grandson and it is recognized in the gentle greeting. Onyx is a wonderful reminder of my many special evenings spent on the island of Malta.

Next my gaze turns to the kitchen where over the sink rests “Tempestuous.” The striking image instantly takes me to the sea and reminds me of its passionate force. Continuing onward, I pause on the landing of the staircase to take in the sweet image of “Snow Baby.” He sits perched atop the water fountain that once belonged to my dear Mom.

I no longer have the fountain, or my sweet Mother, but the painting reminds me of her every single time I look at it. I don’t have far to go before I reach the top of the staircase and I am greeted by “Grace.”

A heavy load is carried high above her strong shoulders and it quickly reminds me of the strength of the women of India, and the heart altering moments of my days spent in that country.

Around the bend I set eyes upon “Ellie” at her position over the bed, and on a sidewall the shy glances of “Centre of Attention” peer my way. Being in the presence of these creatures takes me back to the vast countryside of Africa and its magnificence warms me.

The next two pieces were commissions for some very special clients. Each piece contains personal imagery that was inspired by my conversations with the clients. Creating a commission can be a beautiful experience for both artist and collector.

What I know to be true about being in the presence of original fine art, is that it’s connection with the viewer is something that will remain, personal, strong, touching always ones heart. Just ask my grandson.
